Heavy Machine Move No Obstacle For Wagner Industries

North Kansas City, MO – March 03, 2010 – Many companies are accustomed to shipping standard products; but, when a Lawrence, KS, division of a plastics company needed to move an oversized plastic-extruding machine they called in the Heavy Haul experts from Wagner Industries for assistance.

“It is not everyday a company needs to move such a heavy and unique piece of machinery”, says Director of Logistics Shawn Closser, but when asked if we could assist we were pleased to offer our knowledge and experience”.

The move involved the handling of a 94,000 lb extrusion machine that is used to make plastic items such as cups, bowls, plates, and various other everyday items.

In addition to the heavy nature of the machine it had to be moved across five state lines, to an Ohio plastics plant, which offers its own unique set of challenges.

Mr. Closser and his team understand the paperwork and planning involved.

“These are expensive and delicate machines and Wagner Industries has the knowledge and experience to handle the type of challenges heavy haul moves present. It is more complicated than just loading product on a trailer it is understanding the paperwork, planning, and specialized equipment required to safely deliver the product for our clients.”

According to on site supervisor Eric Orr it took a specialized rigging crane, nine axle tractor trailer, dual escorts, special permits, and specific insurance riders to properly deliver this machine to its Ohio destination.

Wagner Industries is a 64 year old third party logistics provider located in North Kansas City, MO. The company offers the transport of all types of goods from the extremely large to very small as well as public warehousing, contract distribution, and packaging services.

Wagner posted 4.18 injuries per 200,000 hours worked in 2009 compared to a goal of 6.0 and an Industry Average of 7.91. Fifty-seven percent of operating divisions reported zero recordable accidents.
